OYBT Newsletter Message

The Ohio Youth Bowling Tournaments (OYBT) held its fifth monthly tournament of the season on Sunday, November 15, 2009 at HP Lanes in Columbus, Ohio.

There were a total of 28 bowlers. This included 18 boys and 10 girls.

Top qualifier in the boys division was Trent Mitchell posting a 769 series with games of 198, 184, 188, and 199. Brice Ream was next with 760 series. Kyle Mayberry-732, Andy Paxson-723, Clay Stutzman-721, Jeff Sustarsic-713, Jamie Robinson-703, and Andrew Stocker-700. The top eight boys advanced to the second round. In the second round, they all bowled 2 games of match play against 2 different opponents and received thirty bonus pins per win. The top four boys went to the semi finals.
In the semi finals, the #1 qualifier, Trent Mitchell went up against the #4 qualifier, Andy Paxson. The #2 qualifier, Kyle Mayberry went up against the #3 qualifier, Brice Ream. They bowled a best 2 out of 3 game match which put the winners to the finals for a one game shootout to declare the champion.
The finals put Trent Mitchell versus Kyle Mayberry. Kyle Mayberry won with a score of 190 to Trent Mitchell’s 159.

In the girl’s division, Mary Wells was the top qualifier and posted a series of 780 with scores of 215, 148, 184, and 233. 2nd place was Rachel Albright with a series of 716. Tori Pappas was third with a 715 series and Paige Trein rounding out the top four with a series of 690. The top four girls went to the semi finals. Mary Wells went up against Paige Trein and Rachel Albright versus Tori Pappas. They all bowled the best 2 out of 3 game matches and the winners rolled into the finals. The finals were Mary Wells versus Tori Pappas. Mary Wells won the final game with a 213 game to Tori Pappas’ 189 game. Mary has won three OYBT tournaments this year!

We were able to give out $1,008.00 in scholarship funds.

The next OYBT is going to be on Sunday, March 14, 2010 at Capri Lanes at 1 pm.
