OYBT Newsletter Message

The Ohio Youth Bowling Tournaments (OYBT) held its third monthly tournament of the season on Sunday, October 25, 2009 at Western Lanes in Columbus, Ohio.

There were a total of 23 bowlers. This included 18 boys and 5 girls.

Top qualifier in the boys division was Ryan Arras posting a 791 series with games of 225, 226, 154, and 186. Trent Mitchell was next with 786 series. Mark Allen-764, Clay Stutzman-750, Zeke Bayt-749, Travis Hardesty-745, Brice Ream-733, and Daniel Sakaitis-726. The top eight boys advanced to the second round. In the second round, they all bowled 2 games of match play against 2 different opponents and recieved thirty bonus pins per win. The top four boys went to the semi finals. In the semi finals, the #1 qualifier, Ryan Arras went up against the #4 qualifier, Brice Ream. The #2 qualifier, Mark Allen went up against the #3 qualifier, Zeke Bayt. They bowled a best 2 out of 3 game match which put the winners to the finals for a one game shootout to declare the champion. The finals put Brice Ream versus Zeke Bayt. Brice Ream won with a score of 195 to Zeke Bayt’s 189.

In the girl’s division, Megan Shoemaker was the top qualifier and posted a series of 710 with scores of 199, 168, 166, and 177. 2nd place was Blair Blumenscheid with a series of 701. Jennifer Johnson-674 and Paige Trein rounding out the top four with a series of 633. The top four girls went to the semi finals. Megan Shoemaker went up against Paige Trein and Blair Blumenscheid versus Jennifer Johnson. They all bowled the best 2 out of 3 game matches and the winners rolled into the finals. The finals were Paige Trein vs Jennifer Johnson. Jennifer Johnson won the final game with a 204 game to Paige Trein’s 128 game.

We were able to give out $839.00 in scholarship funds.

The next OYBT is going to be on Sunday, November 15, 2009 at HP Lanes at 11 am. Hope to see everyone at the next OYBT........
