OYBT Newsletter Message

The Ohio Youth Bowling Tournaments (OYBT) held its second monthly tournament of the season on Sunday, October 4, 2009 at Sawmill Lanes in Columbus, Ohio.

There were a total of 25 bowlers. This included 18 boys and 7 girls.

Top qualifier in the boys division was Zeke Bayt posting a 933 series with games of 222, 231, 215, and 265. Eric Sacks was next with 913 series. Travis Hardesty-875, Jamie Robinson-809, Daniel Sakaitis-782, TaSean Peters-779, Jordan Milburn-772, and Aaron Matheny-769. The top eight boys advanced to the second round. In the second round, they all bowled 2 games of match play against 2 different opponents and recieved thirty bonus pins per win. The top four boys went to the semi finals.

In the semi finals, the #1 qualifier, Eric Sacks went up against the #4 qualifier, Daniel Sakaitis. The #2 qualifier, Zeke Bayt went up against the #3 qualifier, Travis Hardesty. They bowled a best 2 out of 3 game match which put the winners to the finals for a one game shootout to declare the champion.

The finals put Eric Sacks vs. Zeke Bayt. Eric Sacks won with a score of 182 to Zeke Bayt’s 170.

In the girl’s division, Angelia Corwin was the top qualifier and posted a series of 753 with scores of 202, 192, 148, and 211. 2nd place was Tori Pappas with a series of 745. Blair Blumenscheid-732 and Mary Wells rounding out the top four with a series of 715. The top four girls went to the semi finals.

Angelia Corwin went up against Mary Wells and Tori Pappas vs Blair Blumenscheid. They all bowled the best 2 out of 3 game matches and the winners rolled into the finals.

The finals were Mary Wells vs Blair Blumenscheid. Mary Wells won the final game with a 196 game to Blair Blumenscheid’s 165 game. Mary Wells is a back-to-back OYBT champion!

We were able to give out $767.00 in scholarship funds.

The next OYBT is going to be on Sunday, October 25, 2009 at Western Lanes at 11 am.
