OYBT Newsletter Message

The Ohio Youth Bowling Tournaments (OYBT) held its first monthly tournament of the season on Sunday, August 30, 2009 at Capri Lanes in Columbus, Ohio.

There were a total of 33 bowlers. This included 25 boys and 8 girls.

Top qualifier in the boys division was Chris Cardinali posting a 818 series with games of 194, 242, 204, and 178. Brice Ream was next with 758 series. Tim Eichhorn-732, TaSean Peters-721, Dale Boyles-691, Dasan Williams-678, Ryan Arras-677, and Doug Moss-670. The top eight boys advanced to the second round. In the second round, they all bowled 2 games of match play against 2 different opponents and recieved thirty bonus pins per win. The top four boys went to the semi finals. In the semi finals, the #1 qualifier, Chris Cardinali went up against the #4 qualifier, Brice Ream. The #2 qualifier, TaSean Peters went up against the #3 qualifier, Ryan Arras. They bowled a best 2 out of 3 game match which put the winners to the finals for a one game shootout to declare the champion. The finals put Chris Cardinali vs. TaSean Peters. TaSean Peters won with a score of 199 to Chris Cardinali’s 172.

In the girl’s division, Mary Wells was the top qualifier and posted a series of 758 with scores of 224, 194, 138, and 202. 2nd place was Megan Shoemaker with a series of 676. Blair Blumenscheid-647 and Paige Trein rounding out the top four with a series of 566. The top four girls went to the semi finals. Mary Wells went up against Paige Trein and Megan Shoemaker vs Blair Blumenscheid. They all bowled the best 2 out of 3 game matches and the winners rolled into the finals. The finals were Mary Wells vs Blair Blumenscheid. Mary Wells won the final game with a 172 game to Blair Blumenscheid’s 159 game.

We were able to give out $981.00 in scholarship funds.

The next OYBT is going to be on Sunday, October 4, 2009 at Sawmill Lanes at 11 am. Hope to see everyone at the next OYBT........
